Joke Unprepared Candidate

>> July 2, 2006

Brethren All,

It happens in the best of Lodges, there we were, all primed in our new positions and responsibilities at our first meeting after Installation. A new Candidate was being Initiated - we got through the first half very well. The Candidate retired to restore himself to his comfort in his Suit and the Tyler duly knocked on the Door. What happened next tended to detract from the solemnity.

It seems that he managed to get past the T, I.G. and the Two Deacons and enter L without his Apron. The D Of C promptly launches himself from his spot in the E, saying "the Candidate is not properly dressed". The poor Candidate, not understanding the significance of this remark, thinks that his fly is undone, and makes frantic moves to correct his seeming error.

To put it bluntly, the Lodge broke up in laughter, I don't know who was more embarrassed, the candidate or the D of C. I do know that the T will, in future have triple checked before readmission any future Candidate.
